Martin Crim Awarded 2016 Special Project Award

Manassas, Fredericksburg & Lakeridge VA, October 28, 2016-The law firm of Vanderpool, Frostick & Nishanian would like to congratulate Martin R. Crim, of VF&N and the Manassas City Attorney’s Office on the honor of receiving the Local Government Attorneys of Virginia 2016 Special Project Award.

According to the press release posted by The Local Government Attorneys of Virginia, the LGA “honored the LGA’s Sign Ordinance Committee with its 2016 Special Projects Award at its recently concluded annual fall conference in James City County. The Award recognizes members who have worked on a project of significant importance to the LGA or local government generally. Recognized for their participation were Tara McGee of Chesterfield County, William Macali of Virginia Beach, Martin Crim of Manassas, Anthony Williams of Winchester, Gregory Kamptner of Albemarle County, Adam Melita of Norfolk, and Alan Smith of Prince William County.The members of this Committee were tasked with reviewing the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2015 Reed v. Town of Gilbert decision which called into question the constitutionality of many local sign ordinances. The Sign Ordinance Committee analyzed the decision and its impacts on local sign regulations, advised LGA members of the legal and practical implications of the decision, and drafted a model sign ordinance that would be legally defensible in the wake of this decision. This Committee’s work assisted LGA members in providing the best and most up-to-date advice to local government officials.”

We are extremely proud of Martin and his hard work and dedication throughout the drafting of a model sign ordinance for the LGA Ad HOC Sign Ordinance Committee in the wake of Reed v. Town of Gilbert. Martin has demonstrated time and again why he is such an asset to Vanderpool, Frostick & Nishanian, as well as the city of Manassas, through his persistence and determination, while working with the professionalism and excellence that the attorneys at VF&N possess.
